The spring-loaded design allows the tips to open naturally, helping young children to open and close chopsticks, which can be difficult for them, and allowing them to focus on lifting the chopsticks and bringing them to their mouths.
While learning how to balance your grip and control your fingertips, you can also use chopsticks in your own ingenuity.

Two sets of couplers are included: soft and hard.
When first using the utensil, children will use the hard coupler, which provides good support, and learn to hold it in the correct position, grab food, and bring it to their mouths.
Once you improve, switch to soft couplers that offer more flexibility and train yourself to control the chopsticks on your own.
Once you have become more skilled, the final step is to remove the coupler and practice using it without assistance.
