2022/03/02 Nonoji Corporation's SDGs

The mission of Nonoji Corporation (hereinafter referred to as "Nonoji") is to bring as many smiles as possible to the daily lives of those who use our products.
It's about making people feel a sense of comfort and excitement they've never experienced before.
We strive to create products that bring a smile to the faces of everyone who picks them up, including their families.

This also means manufacturing with the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals)* in mind.

[Creating high-quality products that can be used forever ]
[ A product that can be used by anyone, from children to adults, regardless of gender, and that provides the same results at any time without the need for special techniques ]
Furthermore,
[ Aiming to create products that do not burden the environment ]

"Increasing the number of smiles" on people's faces is not just about the performance and ease of use of the product itself,
It is about protecting and caring for the various environments that surround us.
Nonoji aims to create high-quality products that are environmentally friendly by creating products that are loved by everyone.

*SDGs is an abbreviation for "Sustainable Development Goals," and is a set of common goals for the international community decided by world leaders at a summit held at the United Nations in September 2015. It consists of 17 goals and 169 targets (specific goals).

Nonoji aims to provide products and services that will help solve the following of the 17 SDGs:

3. Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages.

Nonoji's kitchenware range includes many products that are designed to process vegetables so that they are easy to eat without taking up much time and effort (time-saving and efficient). By doing so, we hope to encourage everyone to eat more vegetables, and by making it possible to achieve the "350g vegetable intake per day" recommended by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare, we will be able to help our customers maintain and promote their health.

Examples of such products include peelers, graters, knives, and juicers.

5. Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls.

We aim to create products that are easy to use for anyone, regardless of special skills, age, or gender.

(Product example) By providing a hole for your finger on the peeler, you can easily prepare vegetables by simply inserting your finger into the hole and pulling without exerting any force.
Furthermore, by developing a unique "serrated blade", it has a sharp edge and always produces the same effect as a straight cut, allowing you to cut vegetables without damaging their cells, maintaining their freshness and allowing you to eat delicious vegetables.

(Product example) Kabocha - A thick grip that is easy to apply force to and provides stability and no slipping.
By raising the grip's force point to make it easier to transmit force, you can cut hard ingredients such as pumpkins and sweet potatoes without exerting excessive force.

7. Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all.

12. Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns.

We place importance on communication with our partner factories both in Japan and overseas, and have established a stable and well-planned production system. In addition, we frequently use free pubs in various media to increase product awareness among many customers. By keeping advertising costs down, we do not need to add advertising costs to the product price, which helps to reduce the burden on our customers.

13. Take urgent action to tackle climate change and its impacts.

Nonoji is implementing measures such as simplifying packaging and packaging materials necessary to communicate product information to customers as much as possible and using environmentally friendly materials. The first step in this effort is the Naked series, which has been available since 2018. Nonoji aims to simplify all packaging and packaging materials and adopt environmentally friendly materials by 2025.

14. Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development.

At Nonoji, we create hygienic products, drawing on our many years of experience in planning and manufacturing cooking and serving equipment for school lunches. In particular, we pay close attention to hygiene specifications. This resulted in the creation of a one-piece molded product that eliminates seams, preventing dirt from accumulating, and a polished, smooth surface. This reduces the amount of water and detergent needed for cleaning, and we strive to create products that help protect our oceans and rivers from pollution, even if only a little.

Examples of such products include ladles, perforated ladles, ladles, tongs, and cutlery.

At Nonoji, we value the idea of "hand tools."
In other words, we manufacture and sell hand-operated tools that can be controlled freely like an extension of the hand and do not use motors or other electricity or fossil fuels.
In other words, by using the ultimate clean energy as its power source, it can be said to be an environmentally friendly product that places no burden on the environment.

The knot "nonoji" is written in kanji as "nonoji."
This phrase expresses the "compassionate spirit" that Japanese people have long held dear, such as cherishing nature and the vast plains, as well as the modesty and humility that is reflected in drawing the character "no" on a tatami mat.

This "heart of compassion" is not only "compassion" for those who use Nonoji products, but also "compassion" for the natural environment that nurtures all of humanity.
